My review today is going to be on the new animated film SCOOB! I loved Scooby Doo growing up and as an adult man. With my 4 year old daughter, Eppy, being into Scooby Doo as well, we had to give it a watch (no brainer). The director of SCOOB! is the same man who directed the Scooby Doo films from the 2000s, Raja Gosnel. Those films were absolute bangers, and I would be surprised if SCOOB! could out do those classic movies.
The voice acting and writing of this new 2020 take on Scooby Doo is really good in my most humble opinion. One of my favorite comedians of all time, Will Forte (Tandy🤙 From The Last Man on Earth) the man, the myth, the legend, plays Shaggy and completely nails it. Fred is played by Zac Efron, and his voice is a perfect fit for Fred. It’s an excellent combination and is very comical the whole ride. Who plays the mystery solving pooch you ask? Well, it wouldn’t be a Scooby movie without Frank Welker, who has been voicing the dog since 1969. He really is a Scooby O.G.
For the ladies of the Scooby Doo team, playing Velma, we have Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin). Playing Daphne is Amanda Seyfried (Mamma Mia and the classic Mean girls). Then there are some heavy hitters like Kiersey Clemons, Ken Jeong, Simon Cowell, Mark Wahlberg, and Tracy Morgan to name a bunch. They all absolutely killed it.
Besides all that good stuff, I gotta say I enjoyed SCOOB! Eppy loved it and has been watching it quite a bit since buying it for her. It was funny throughout the entire film and it definitely had the Scooby vibe. I will say I do like the Scooby movies in the early 2000s better. I’m not sure if I’m just biased because they are from my childhood but that’s how I felt after watching SCOOB! for the first time. I must say this 2020 Scooby also hits hard though.
In my book, SCOOB! is a fun and witty movie for everyone of all ages. Feel free to give this review a big like and comment what you thought of the movie.
